Ri Ulew Ixim offers an authentic cultural experience inspired by the traditions of Guatemala. Our name comes from one of Guatemala’s Mayan languages, Kaqchikel, and reflects the deep cultural connection between the land, maize, and the heritage of the Maya people. For centuries, maize has been considered the foundation of life and identity in Maya culture, symbolizing nourishment, community, and the relationship between people and the earth.
Through hands-on cooking classes, local flavors, and immersive experiences, we connect visitors with the heart of our heritage. Participants learn to prepare traditional dishes while discovering the stories and customs that shape our cuisine.
Additionally, guests who wish to enrich their visit can complement the experience with a jade workshop in partnership with local artisans, where they will learn about the cultural significance of this stone in the history of the Maya civilization.
Each experience is thoughtfully designed to combine gastronomy, culture, and unforgettable moments that celebrate the land of maize.

Our hands-on cooking class allows visitors to learn how to prepare some of the country's most iconic dishes, such as Pepián, Jocón, and Guatemalan stew, guided step by step in a welcoming and interactive environment. To make the experience even more special, guests can also join a traditional jade workshop, where you will discover the cultural significance of this ancestral stone and create your own jade piece inspired by Mayan artistry. Jade Workshop – Antigua Guatemala
Our jade workshop is located in Colonia Valle de Ermita, in Antigua Guatemala, a peaceful area just minutes from the historic center of the city.
Antigua Guatemala is known for its rich history, colonial architecture, and deep cultural heritage. This beautiful setting provides the perfect environment to discover one of the most sacred stones of the ancient Maya civilization: jade.
During this experience, visitors will learn about the cultural and historical importance of jade in Maya tradition, while also exploring the craftsmanship behind jade carving and jewelry making. Guests will have the opportunity to observe traditional techniques and connect with the artistry that has been passed down through generations.
This workshop offers a unique cultural experience where history, craftsmanship, and Guatemalan heritage come together.
